![]() Game Freak always thinks about how the creature are put together, so I think it's worth really looking and the shape and individual parts more closely, part of the reason I made this thread was to express that, and to maybe get people to think twice about statements like "It doesn't look like a Pokémon", "It looks like a Digimon", or "It shouldn't exist". Walrein, Altaria, Banette, and Mightyena (Gen 3), Hippowdon, Skuntank, Carnivine, and Floatzel (Gen 4), Beartic, Excadrill, Zebstrika, and Sawsbuck, (Gen 5), Avalugg, Pyroar, Heliolisk, and Carbink (Gen 6), Rockruff, Pyukumuku, Bewear, Minior, and Toucannon (Gen 7), I consider all of these designs to be fairly simple. ![]() ![]() Looking at it this way, Rhyhorn could also be considered complex with all of its individidual ridges, then there are Magmar, Hitmonchan, Arcanine, and Kadabra, they have spikes, appear to be wearing clothing, and markings on their body. Sugimori for example has said Gengar is his favorite for how easy it is to draw, and Venusaur is his least favorite for how hard it is to draw. ![]() It is perfectly fine for you to prefer the first generation, however, even though hardware has been able to allow new ideas and variety, there has always been a mix of simple and complex designs. ![]()
